Catering Menu Pricing
How much should I charge for food?
Determining how much money to charge a client is pretty simple. The industry standard is to charge between 3 to 5 times the retail cost of food depending on your location.
Example: You will charge between $54 to $90 If it costs you $18 to buy all the ingredients necessary for a chicken with vegetables dinner for 8 people.
Tip: It is possible to get the catering job and maintain the same profit margin if the client insists on a specific budget while serving a specific cut of expensive meat. The trick is to substitute or eliminate certain ingredients or dishes.
How much should I charge for service?
You can charge a 15% - 20% service gratuity fee if the client requests
for service staff.
Example: You will charge between $115 - $120 if the price charged to the client is $100.
The next lesson is about which catering supplies to buy.
